The case involves allegations that Khan deliberately concealed details of gifts he received from foreign officials during his time in office, and then sold them for personal gain. The Election Commission of Pakistan had previously disqualified Khan in the Toshakhana case for making false statements and incorrect declarations.

Khan had challenged the maintainability of the case, but both the trial court and the Islamabad High Court had ruled against him. The Supreme Court now urges the high court to decide on the pending petitions related to the jurisdiction and transfer of the case.
Khan is currently facing over 140 cases across the country, including charges of terrorism, violence, blasphemy, corruption, and murder.
