Storm Babet Leaves Fifth Fatality in its Wake as United Kingdom and Germany Face Devastating Flooding

In the aftermath of Storm Babet, the United Kingdom has mourned the loss of a fifth life. The torrential rains and high winds delivered by the storm caused extensive flooding across the country. Tragically, the body of a man was discovered after he went missing in a vehicle submerged in flood waters in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. This heart-wrenching incident marks the third storm-related fatality in Scotland, where a 56-year-old man had previously lost his life when a falling tree struck his van, and a 57-year-old woman was swept away by a river.

Expressing his deep concern, Scotland's First Minister, Humza Yousaf, visited Angus county's town of Brechin, the area most severely affected by the storm. Germany also endured the storm's fury, particularly along the Baltic Sea coast, leading to the evacuation of approximately 2,000 individuals. Moreover, Norway and Denmark suffered from widespread flooding caused by the relentless tempest.
