Colombian singer Shakira has reached a settlement with Spanish prosecutors to resolve her tax fraud case. The superstar will pay millions of euros in fines and receive a three-year suspended sentence to avoid trial.
The singer Shakira pleaded guilty through an agreement with prosecutors, to 6 counts of tax fraud for not paying 14.5 million euros in taxes in Spain. The agreement includes a fine of 7.3 million euros, the artist will not go and the 3-year prison sentence is suspended. pic.twitter.com/135y6ElBVB

Shakira was accused of defrauding the Spanish state of 14.5 million euros ($15.7 million) on income earned from 2012 to 2014. She had denied the charges, claiming she only became a full-time resident of Spain in 2015. In a statement, Shakira expressed her desire to move past the emotional toll of the case and focus on her children and career. The settlement allows her to do so.
