Russia's unrelenting attack on Ukraine amid the ongoing war is continuing despite the tension and coup-like situation on its land. Tuesday saw a devastating attack on a crowded restaurant in Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine, with two S-300 surface-to-air missiles fired at the city. The Interior Ministry reported the recovery of three bodies from the rubble, including a minor born in 2008, and the injury of over one hundred people, including a child born in 2022. The Ukrainian emergency service said on Telegram that the strike had caused 100 injuries and had destroyed the popular Ria Pizza restaurant.

Eyewitness Yevgen, who had been dining with two friends at the time of the explosion, reported that a lot of people were in the restaurant when it happened. One of his friends had been buried under the rubble, he said. Donetsk governor Pavlo Kyrylenko also declared that two Russian rockets had struck the city, once home to 150,000 people and one of the largest cities still under Ukrainian control in the war-torn region. Several buildings in the vicinity were also damaged in the strike.

Russia has increasingly targeted Ukraine since its initial invasion in February 2022. The country has been mired in a conflict of this nature for years, yet the recent attack on Kramatorsk has been one of the most concerning yet. The destruction of the restaurant and the loss of life are a tragic reminder of the human cost of this war. The Ukrainian government has expressed its outrage at the attack and continues to call for an end to the conflict. It is hoped that with the support of the international community, a peaceful resolution can be achieved and the citizens of Ukraine can finally have the peace and security they deserve.
