During the overnight air strikes, more than 30 drones were launched by Russia onto Ukraine's capital, according to Ukraine's air force. The attack lasted for approximately two hours, during which the Ukrainian military successfully destroyed 26 out of the 33 drones.

Unfortunately, one person was injured as a result of the attack. This attack came shortly after two foreign aid workers were reportedly killed in eastern Ukraine. The aid workers were traveling in a van operated by a Ukrainian non-profit organization when it was hit by Russian shelling.

The van flipped over and caught fire, trapping the volunteers inside. Witnesses in Kyiv reported hearing at least five explosions and saw the sky illuminated by blasts from the air defenses. The drones caused extensive damage, shattering windows in buildings and damaging cars, trolleybus power lines, and roads. Local resident Liudmyla described the experience as "very frightening", stating that the drones shattered windows in her building and caused items on her windowsill to fall.

The attack also resulted in damages to infrastructure, including an unspecified facility and eight houses. No immediate comment has been received from Russia regarding the strikes. Russian air strikes on civilian-heavy cities in Ukraine have become more frequent over the past few months.

Just a few days before this incident, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hometown, Kryvyi Rih, was targeted, resulting in at least 73 people injured and one policeman killed. In addition, 17 individuals were killed in the eastern city of Kostiantynivka during a separate attack.

The scale of the air attack on Kyiv is not yet fully known, but there were reports of multiple blasts across the city and surrounding areas. Several districts in Kyiv, including Darnytskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Podil, experienced debris falling from the downed drones.

In one incident, a fire broke out in an apartment as a result of the fallen debris, although there were no immediate reports of injuries. Russia's near-nightly assaults on Ukraine's territory have raised concern and prompted condemnation from the international community. The continuous attacks have resulted in significant loss of life and damage to infrastructure, further escalating tensions between the two nations.
