In a series of recent drone attacks, tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalate as the conflict spills over onto Russian territory. Reuters reports that one of the drones was shot down over Krasnogorsk, a town outside Moscow that hosts the Moscow regional government.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The Russian defense ministry confirmed the incident. In response to these attacks, Moscow's major airports—Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Domodedovo—have closed their airspace, leading to delayed flights and disrupted travel plans, according to an anonymous official quoted by TASS.

This move comes after a number of Ukrainian drone strikes targeted Russian airports, causing repeated closures in recent days. Ukraine, however, does not claim direct responsibility for these attacks on Russian soil. Reuters highlights that Ukraine rarely takes ownership of such incidents.

Nevertheless, tensions have been steadily rising, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy remarking that war is steadily returning to Russian territory. Ukraine has been working toward reclaiming territories lost to Russia in the early stages of the conflict. The latest drone attack added to the growing list of incidents.

CNN reports that a Ukrainian drone crashed into the roof of a railway station in Russia's Kursk region, resulting in five injuries. Around 50 people were inside the station at the time but were safely evacuated. Out of the five injured individuals, two refused treatment, while the remaining three were admitted to Kursk regional hospital.

The drone impact also caused damage to the building and various areas within, including the roof, waiting room, and pedestrian tunnel. This brazen attack on Russian mainland highlights the intensifying nature of the conflict between the two nations.

It follows an earlier incident this month when shells fired from Ukraine hit residential buildings in the village of Volfino, also in the Kursk region. With each passing day, the conflict shows signs of spreading further into Russian territory.

As tensions continue to escalate between Russia and Ukraine, the international community anxiously watches. The ripple effects of these drone attacks on Russian soil have not only disrupted travel plans but also reignited concerns about the conflict's potential to escalate further.
