Released by the Taliban: British men finally free, UK issues apology for potential law violations

Four British men who were detained in Afghanistan have been released, and the United Kingdom has issued an apology on behalf of their families for any violations of the country's laws. Among those released were charity medic Kevin Cornwell and YouTube star Miles Routledge. The UK Foreign Office expressed appreciation for their release and apologized to the Afghan administration. The Presidium Network, a UK humanitarian non-profit, confirmed that Cornwell and Routledge were among those released.

The men had been held by the Taliban authorities since January. The UK government voiced regret for the incident and stated that all UK citizens are required to abide by the laws of their destination countries. The release comes amid concerns over the human rights situation in Afghanistan and reports of alleged rights violations, including torture and ill-treatment, by the Taliban authorities.
