Faisal Karim Kundi, the Information Secretary of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), has announced that party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be the candidate for the position of prime minister, while his father, former president Asif Ali Zardari, will be nominated for the role of president in the upcoming elections. This statement comes after Zardari had previously indicated that the party had yet to finalize its candidate for the prime ministerial role. When asked if Bilawal could be the nominee, Zardari mentioned that Bilawal, himself, or Khurshid Shah could be potential candidates.

Kundi confirmed Bilawal's candidacy in a media briefing in Islamabad, expressing the party's desire to replicate the scenario of the 2018 elections and see Asif Zardari become the president again. He emphasized that the elections should not be delayed beyond February 8, 2024, stating that it is better to sit in the opposition than to be a favorite through selection. Kundi criticized the PML-N's reluctance to participate in the electoral process, calling it drawing room politics and questioning why the largest party in the country was avoiding it. Kundi compared the popularity of rallies held by Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam with those led by Bilawal, asserting that the nation was in favor of the PPP.

He argued against a potential social media ban during elections, stating that it would go against freedom of expression and that the public has the right to express their opinions. Kundi also criticized the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), claiming that it had been historically used for political engineering. He called for clarity on whether NAB was wrong in the past or if it is wrong today, emphasizing that NAB is an institution, not anyone's property. Furthermore, Kundi condemned the recent terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan and reiterated the PPP's call for the implementation of the National Action Plan.

In reference to the Supreme Court's consideration of a presidential reference after more than a decade, Kundi called for justice for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, stating that those involved in his martyrdom should be punished, regardless of their roles as bureaucrats, judges, or lawyers. Overall, the PPP is gearing up for the upcoming general elections, with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the candidate for the prime minister's seat and Asif Zardari as the nominee for the role of president. The party is ready to replay the scenario of the 2018 elections and is determined to see Asif Zardari become the president again. They are advocating for the elections to be held on time and are critical of other parties' reluctance to participate. The PPP is also advocating for freedom of expression, calling for transparency in the NAB, and demanding justice for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
