Pakistan's caretaker Foreign Minister urges Afghan government to take action against TTP terror group originating from Afghanistan, highlighting strained relations and cross-border attacks.
Pakistan's caretaker Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, has urged the Afghan government to take decisive action against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terror group. Jilani emphasized that the TTP's attacks inside Pakistan, originating from Afghanistan, are a major concern for both countries and are resulting in strained relations. He called on the interim Afghan administration to fulfill its commitment of not allowing Afghan soil to be used against other countries.
Pakistan has experienced a wave of terrorist activities orchestrated by the TTP since the Afghan Taliban came to power. Jilani expressed Pakistan's dilemma of wanting Afghanistan to be stable and prosperous, but also dealing with the presence of various terrorist groups, including the TTP and ISIS-K, which are based in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has had dialogue with the Taliban rulers in Afghanistan and emphasized the need for them to fulfill their commitments to Pakistan and the international community. Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister wrote to his Afghan counterpart, stressing the importance of working together to achieve common goals amidst rising cross-border attacks. Pakistan holds the Afghan Taliban responsible for supporting the TTP's attacks.
