NASA has stated that it has no evidence of drug use at Elon Musk's SpaceX, following recent reports about the billionaire's drug use. The agency emphasized that it expects its commercial partners to comply with drug- and alcohol-free workforce regulations to ensure workplace safety in the execution of missions and services provided to the American people. The statement from NASA comes in response to a Wall Street Journal article that claimed Musk had indulged in illegal drugs such as LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and mushrooms.

It also reported that SpaceX executives were concerned about Musk's alleged drug use during an all-hands meeting in 2017. Musk retaliated against the claims, stating that he and SpaceX employees have passed random drug tests for years, with not even trace quantities of drugs found in their systems. He also addressed his marijuana use during a podcast appearance, stating that he agreed to the drug tests at NASA's request. There had been speculation earlier this week about the potential impact of the drug use allegations on Musk's government security clearance.

Fox Business correspondent Charles Gasparino indicated that sources suggested Musk's security clearance would undergo a review by the Department of Defense. In response to the allegations and speculation, NASA has reiterated its expectation that its commercial partners, including SpaceX, adhere to the drug- and alcohol-free workforce regulations to ensure safety and compliance with workplace requirements.
