Scotland Yard has arrested a man on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with an attack on the Indian High Commission in London that occurred in March. The Metropolitan Police stated that the man, who was arrested during a protest outside India House on Monday, has been released on bail pending further investigation. The protest on Monday was organized to demand UK government intervention in response to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's claims of alleged Indian involvement in the killing of wanted terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a claim strongly rejected by India.

During the protest, a British Sikh man was seen being led away by police officers. The arrested man, whose identity cannot be revealed until charges are filed, is believed to be one of the individuals identified by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as responsible for the attack on the High Commission of India. Pro-Khalistan extremists had scaled the building during the attack and attempted to pull down the Indian national flag, causing injury to at least one official and damaging the premises.

In response to the incident, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned the senior-most UK diplomat in New Delhi to express India's strong protest against the actions of separatist and extremist elements. The NIA took over the investigation after Home Ministry officials met with UK representatives. In a separate incident, Police Scotland stated that no criminality has been established in relation to the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, being blocked from a gurdwara (Sikh place of worship) by pro-Khalistan extremists in Glasgow.

The disturbance occurred when three individuals disrupted a planned community visit, with one person attempting to violently force open the diplomatic vehicle. The High Commission of India and Glasgow Gurdwara both issued statements condemning the disorderly behavior and emphasizing their commitment to welcoming individuals from all communities and backgrounds.
