As the 2024 US presidential election approaches, former President Donald Trump appears to be the favored candidate to challenge President Joe Biden. However, three Indian-American leaders are looking to upstage Trump and make America great again.

Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, and Hirsh Vardhan Singh have expressed their intentions to contest the Republican Party's nomination for the presidency. Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and Trump's first ambassador to the United Nations, is the only woman running in the Republican primary contest.

Despite her criticism of Trump's post-election claims of voter fraud, Haley proudly speaks of her time in the Trump administration. Although she ranks low in most polls, she has consistently garnered substantial donations, with the Stand For America Fund Inc. raising $18.7 million in support of her campaign.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a tech entrepreneur and son of Indian immigrants, entered the presidential nomination contest as an outsider but has quickly risen to the third position. With a focus on innovative drug development and healthcare transformation, Ramaswamy aims to restore meritocracy and reduce reliance on China.

He has raised $7.7 million in the second quarter, including $5.4 million from his own pockets. Hirsh Vardhan Singh, an engineer, has also joined the Republican presidential race with a commitment to prioritize citizens and restore the conservative wing of the New Jersey Republican Party.

He positions himself as a pure-blood Republican and a staunch advocate of former President Donald Trump. Singh has previously run for various offices in New Jersey but was unsuccessful in winning the Republican Party's nomination.

These three Indian-American leaders will compete against Trump for the Republican Party's nomination in the 2024 presidential race. Republicans will convene in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15-18, 2024, for their national convention to formally select their party's nominee.
