Imran Khan, the jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan, will not be participating in the upcoming intra-party polls and has instead nominated Barrister Gohar Khan as the candidate for the post of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, according to a top leader of the party. Barrister Ali Zafar confirmed that Imran Khan had decided against contesting the intra-party polls scheduled for December 2 and had chosen Barrister Gohar Khan as his replacement, as reported by Dawn newspaper.

This announcement follows a recent controversy within the party, where a senior leader claimed that Imran Khan would not be running for the chairman's position in the intra-party polls. Senior Vice-President Sher Afzal Marwat also confirmed that Barrister Gohar Khan will be the candidate for PTI's chairmanship. Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned in Rawalpindi's Adiala jail, is facing various legal battles. The decision for Imran Khan to not participate in the intra-party polls will have significant implications for the party as the country prepares for the general elections scheduled for February.
