Imran Khan Fights Back: Seeks Suspension of Verdict, Protection from Poisoning in Toshakhana Corruption Case

Imran Khan, the jailed former prime minister of Pakistan, has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to seek suspension of the trial court's verdict in the Toshakhana corruption case. Khan was sentenced to three years in prison for concealing details of state gifts, but the IHC had previously suspended his sentence.

However, he remains behind bars due to the cipher case in which he allegedly violated the Official Secrets Act. Khan's lawyers argue that the IHC only suspended his sentence and not the trial court order that disqualified him from participating in elections. They request the court to rectify this omission and suspend the operation of the Toshakhana verdict until the appeal is finalized.

Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, also approached the IHC seeking protection for her husband, expressing fears that the jail administration may poison his meals. Imran Khan's lawyer further claimed that Khan's life was in danger and that he was being mentally tortured in jail. The IHC issued notices to the respondents and adjourned the hearing until next week.
