Imran Khan Claims Police Forced his Driver to Confess Supplying Drugs
Ousted Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan alleges police forced a driver to admit to supplying him drugs, accusing the government of desperate measures ahead of upcoming elections.
Pakistan's ousted prime minister Imran Khan has made explosive allegations that the police forced a driver to confess that he supplied him with drugs. Khan, leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has accused the federal government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of resorting to desperate measures to disqualify or jail him ahead of the general elections later this year.
Since losing a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly last year, Khan has faced over 140 cases and a barrage of charges including terrorism, violence, blasphemy, corruption, and murder. The former prime minister claims that his ouster was part of a US-led conspiracy, as a result of his independent foreign policy decisions on Russia, China, and Afghanistan.
Khan took to Twitter to reveal the dramatic turn of events, stating that he had been sent a box of shoes from someone he knows, which was delivered to his residence by their driver. However, two days later, the police appeared at the driver's house, allegedly harassing and intimidating his impoverished family, coercing him to falsely claim that he had delivered a box of drugs to Khan's home.
Accompanying his claim, Khan posted a picture of the pair of shoes that had been sent to him. He further accused the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party of spreading baseless allegations that he uses drugs and would not be able to survive in jail without them.
These explosive allegations have shed light on the deep divisions and fierce political rivalries in Pakistan. Khan's claims that criminals are running the country and appointing incompetent individuals to key positions have struck a chord with many who are disillusioned with the current political establishment.
As the nation gears up for the upcoming general elections, Khan's allegations highlight the desperation within the ruling party to tarnish his image and ensure his disqualification or incarceration. The PTI chief's accusations against the federal government have fueled speculation of a power struggle where no tactic is deemed too extreme.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his party have yet to respond to the allegations, leaving many to wonder if there is any truth to Khan's claims or if this is just another chapter in the ongoing political drama that has engulfed Pakistan. Only time will tell how this controversy will impact the upcoming elections and the future of Pakistani politics.
