Head of Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was reportedly among the passengers of a private aircraft that crashed in the Tver Region of Russia, according to state-run news agencies. The plane, an Embraer Legacy aircraft, was travelling from Moscow to Saint Petersburg when it crashed near the village of Kuzhenkino.

All 10 people on board, including Prigozhin and three crew members, are presumed dead. Videos posted on Telegram channels linked to Wagner showed footage of the burning wreckage, although the authenticity of the footage has yet to be confirmed.

Prigozhin led a mutiny against Russia's army in June but reached a deal that was expected to see him move to neighboring Belarus. However, he refused to cede command of Wagner and has since mostly stayed out of the public eye.
