German federal prosecutors have initiated an investigation into the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas, suspecting the group of kidnapping and murdering German citizens, according to the spokesperson for the federal prosecutor's office. The probe is centered around suspicions of belonging to a foreign terrorist group, hostage-taking, and murder. The investigation comes in response to the recent attack by Hamas, where approximately 1,500 gunmen breached the Gaza Strip border fence, invaded Israel, and went on a murderous rampage for hours through southern areas.

The death toll in Israel has risen above 900, and around 150 men, women, and children were kidnapped and dragged into Gaza. The attack also led to the launching of over 5,000 rockets at Israel, with ongoing bombings in southern and central areas. Several foreigners, including German citizens, were among those killed, injured, or taken hostage during the attack. One German-Israeli woman, believed to be abducted during the rampage, is reportedly alive but in critical condition with a severe head injury.

The mother of the abducted woman has appealed to the German government for quick action. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has assured that they are working closely with Israel to secure the freedom of German citizens and determine their fate. Other countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Nepal, Cambodia, Austria, and Italy, have also reported citizens being killed, missing, or taken hostage during the Hamas attack.
