Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been charged with a public order offense after being arrested at a demonstration against an oil and gas industry conference in London. Along with 25 other individuals, Thunberg was charged for failing to comply with conditions imposed by the police to prevent disruption.

The protesters gathered outside the luxury InterContinental Hotel during the Energy Intelligence Forum, where chief executives from major fossil fuel companies were speaking. They accused these companies of intentionally impeding the global transition to renewables for profit.

The activists also opposed the British government's recent approval of oil drilling in the North Sea. Thunberg, who has inspired a global youth movement advocating for stronger action against climate change, was previously fined for disobeying police during an environmental protest in Sweden. She was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on November 15.
