Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan evades court appearance in high-stakes cypher case, citing security concerns

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been excused from appearing in the Islamabad High Court in relation to the cypher case, as the Attock jail authorities cited security risks involved in his transportation from jail to court, according to ARY News. The jail administration made the request to exempt Khan from a court appearance, which was previously scheduled for September 25.

The bail application of Imran Khan, who was arrested in August after his conviction in the Toshakhana case, is set for hearing on Monday. The cypher case against Khan gained traction after his principal secretary, Azam Khan, claimed that the former PM had used the US cypher to further his political agenda and avoid a vote of no-confidence. The FIR was registered under the Official Secrets Act on August 15, and Khan and his party's vice chairman are currently on judicial remand till September 26 in connection with the case.
