The Danish government is taking steps to prevent the burning of the Quran in front of other countries' embassies in Denmark, following a series of offensive and reckless acts committed by individuals. Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen stated that these actions do not represent the values of Danish society.

The government will explore the possibility of intervening in situations where other cultures and religions are insulted, which could have negative consequences for Denmark's security. Similar measures are being considered in Sweden.

The public burnings have generated widespread outrage in Muslim countries, with protests lodged by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Morocco, Qatar, and Yemen. However, both Denmark and Sweden have emphasized the importance of freedom of expression while deploring these burnings.

The United Nations Human Rights Council recently approved a resolution on religious hatred and bigotry, with backing from Pakistan and other Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries. The United States and the European Union opposed the resolution, citing concerns regarding freedom of expression.

Rasmussen underlined that any actions taken must respect the constitutionally protected freedom of expression in Denmark. The Danish government aims to put an end to the mockery of other countries while promoting unity and respect among different cultures and religions.
