Deal Reached: Truce Extended, Hostages Released, and Aid Enters Gaza Amidst Israel-Hamas Conflict

In a positive development amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, a deal has been reached to extend the truce by two days, according to Qatar, the mediator. The extension of the humanitarian truce comes after weeks of intense negotiations, with Qatar, the United States, and Egypt working together to establish and prolong the ceasefire. The truce, which was set to expire, has already led to the release of 117 Palestinian prisoners and 39 Israeli hostages. As part of the extension, Hamas will release an additional 50 Israeli women and children held hostage in Gaza, while Israel will release a total of 150 Palestinian prisoners.

The truce extension also allows for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, providing much-needed relief to the devastated enclave. The initial truce, which began last week, marked the first halt in fighting in the seven-week-long conflict. Israel, on the other hand, has freed 39 teenage Palestinian prisoners. The ongoing negotiations aim to secure the release of all remaining hostages, including 184 individuals, 14 of whom are foreigners and 80 of whom hold dual nationality.

The truce extension has been welcomed by the international community, with the European Union's foreign policy chief highlighting the possibility of working towards a political solution to the conflict.
