British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has issued a warning to pro-Palestinian protestors planning to march in London on Armistice Day. Sunak called the planned protests provocative and disrespectful, as the day is meant to honor soldiers killed in World Wars I and II, as well as subsequent conflicts. He expressed concern that the Cenotaph and other war memorials may be desecrated if the protests take place.

Sunak emphasized the importance of protecting the right to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. The Metropolitan Police force has made arrests at recent protests and is prepared to take necessary measures to protect the sanctity of Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. The protest organizers have stated that they will avoid the Whitehall area where the Cenotaph is located.

Sunak's statement followed a letter from UK Security Minister Tom Tugendhat, who asked the Metropolitan Police and the Mayor of London to stop the protests. Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been deputed to intervene in the matter. The protests in London are part of a series of demonstrations in support of Palestine following the Israel-Hamas war.
