In a tragic incident, 11 labourers were killed and two others sustained injuries in a bomb blast in the Gulmir Kot area of North Waziristan, Pakistan. The explosion occurred in a van, as reported by a police spokesperson. The attack was carried out by terrorists who targeted the vehicle carrying the labourers.

The victims belonged to Makin and Wana tehsils in South Waziristan. This incident comes after a suicide blast in Bajaur, where 63 people, including 23 children, lost their lives and over 200 people were injured. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the Bajaur attack. Pakistan has been witnessing a rise in terror activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the end of the ceasefire between the government and the outlawed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

According to a think tank report, Pakistan experienced 18 suicide attacks in the first seven months of 2023, resulting in the deaths of 200 people and injuries to over 450 others. Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir warned the terrorists to submit to the authority of the state before they face elimination. Islamabad has blamed Kabul for the attacks in its tribal region, accusing the Taliban administration of not doing enough to control the movement of armed groups across the border. However, the Taliban administration denies these allegations.
