President Macron's visit to India was important in multiple contexts. Macron has positioned himself as the most credible interlocutor in Europe. This made his visit much more important. France and India enjoy an exceptionally warm relationship. This is the result of deep affinities and an unwavering trust between the two countries that has existed since India's independence.

Cooperation between the two countries in areas as sensitive as the defense, security, and energy has developed since the launch of the strategic partnership in 1988, during the time of Rajiv Gandhi. The relationship is based on shared values and real convergence on a whole range of regional and global issues. India has set itself the ambitious goal of adding an installed solar capacity of 100 GW by 2022. Supporting the attainment of goal France (CEA) is considering a partnership with Indian Industrialists for implementing technological innovations developed by the France National Solar Energy Institute for upscaling production and optimizing production units.

India has to learn a lot from France in the field of Sustainable development.

Both India and France are leading nation in terms of the Paris Climate Change deal. This can be seen with the solar alliance. The International Solar Alliance aims to mobilize more than $1000 billion in investment by 2030 for "massive deployment" of solar energy. In the ISA Summit which was attended by 28 countries.

With the 4 day tour of France President Emmanuel Macron, India sealed a good deal in numerous fields mentioned below:

1. Agreement to facilitate mutual recognition of Academic Qualifications the purpose of this Arrangement is to facilitate the mutual recognition of educational qualifications.

2. Agreement regarding the provision of reciprocal logistics support between the Armed forces. This Agreement facilitates the reciprocal provision of Logistic Support, Supplies and Services between the Armed Forces of the two countries during authorized port visits, joint exercises, joint training, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts etc.

3. Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of Environment. The MoU aims to establish a basis for the exchange of information between the Governments and technical experts of the two countries in the field of environment and climate change.

4. Agreement on the cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development. This agreement will allow the exchange of information on smart city development, development of urban mass transportation systems, urban settlements and utilities etc.

5. An Industrial way forward agreement between Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. And EDF France. This agreement prescribes a way for implementation of the Jaitapur nuclear power project.

6. A Bilateral agreement between India and France on cooperation in the matter of Hydrography and Maritime Cartography. This Agreement will encourage cooperation between the two countries in the field of hydrography, nautical documentation, and maritime safety information.

7. Memorandum of understanding between National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the national Solar energy Institute (INES), France. With this agreement, both countries shall work on projects in ISA member countries in the areas of Solar energy.
