Claim: Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor have become recent victims of digital image alteration.

What Happened: Recently, digitally morphed images of Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor began circulating on social media. A picture of Amitabh Bachchan went viral where he was seen holding a poster that says, "Kashmir never Can't be the Integral part of India Becoz We are Rapists We are the real Terrorists". The picture was first uploaded on the 17th of April, 2018, by a Facebook user named Nazia Basir.

With a sensitive issue like Kashmir linked to one of India's biggest celebrities, it is not surprising that it generated a great deal of comment, ranging from agreement to communally hateful remarks.
This picture was shared on the 18th of April by another Facebook user named Mir Fayaz. This picture has been shared over two thousand times, and is also being circulated extensively on WhatsApp. Similarly, morphed pictures of Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor have been going viral on WhatsApp. A WhatsApp group named 'Yogiji's Fan Club' has been sharing these images.
Fact: Amitabh Bachchan originally posted the picture of himself on the 1st of March, 2017, on Twitter, with a special message for his daughter, Shweta Bachchan, on gender equality. The pictures of Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are from a campaign titled '#JusticeForOurChild', a national protest demanding justice for the Kathua rape and murder victim.
Conclusion: Photo manipulation of this sort, particularly of celebrities and with a political slogan, has become very popular on social media. An image can be easily digitally altered these days, using straightforward techniques with software like Paint or Photoshop. By adding your own words to a picture of a celebrity, it is very easy to create eye-catching propaganda.
